Project Cyber partnered with SIILK (Sisters Involved in Linking Knowledge) and the Regalettes, Inc. to host a cybersecurity workshop for the annual SIILK/Regalettes Teen Leadership Conference. SIILK and the Regalettes, Inc. are both non-profit organizations whose missions are to create a forum to bring women of diverse backgrounds together and support the educational endeavors of underserved youth, mentorship, and community initiatives. This one-day leadership program is designed for African American girls between the ages of 11-17 from various socioeconomic and geographical backgrounds and features interactive workshops focused on encouraging, empowering and supporting girls in their personal and academic journeys.

Project Cyber introduced cybersecurity to the girls and facilitated their "Anatomy of a Hack" and "Insider Detection" exercises. The cybersecurity workshop concluded with an overview of key concepts introduced through the exercises such as 'Security in Depth' and 'Insider Threat'. We also discussed cyber hygiene and tips on how to stay safe online. Reflecting on the workshop, one teen shared, “We learned the importance of protecting your computer and important information and the skills needed for a career in cybersecurity. We also learned how to work in teams."

Congratulations to all the SIILK/Regalettes Teen Leadership Conference program participants for a job well done!
